English term

maintained markup

GBK English to Czech Marketing Marketing
Definition from MBA Skool:
A price adjustment where the price is reduced to above the cost to a new price. Maintained markup is done when the product does not sell and keeps lying in the store for some time. When a product arrives at the store, a price tag is attached which is pre-determined. This is the initial markup price above the cost. The maintained markup is hence the actual selling price minus the cost.
Example sentences:
Retailers can avoid having to significantly reduce their maintained markup value by utilizing inventory management software like SkuVault to dramatically reduce the clerical errors that can lead to shortages, more precisely forecast demand, etc., thus reducing costs. (skuvault)
But the maintained markup is done with the intention of clearing up unsold products. Online sellers need to know the kind of demand that exists for their product in the market and set the price based on the information they’ve gathered. (DelightChat)
Having the correct initial markup is the cornerstone to achieving the desired maintained markup. Have you ever wondered what the determining factors for initial markup are? Why do we double the cost? What does the term “keystone markup” mean, and where did it originate? (Independent Retailer)
