I know its kind of cancer,but what is the difference from other tumors ,such as solid tumors, or soft tissue tumors.

转移病灶
肿瘤有良性和恶性之分，其根本区别在于肿瘤细胞同其起源细胞的异型性大小及其生物学行为的恶性程度。恶性肿瘤具有原位生长和通过血道、淋巴道和体腔向远处转移侵润生长的特点，因此其远处转移（metastasis）行为形成的病灶称为转移灶metastatic lesion，或者继发性肿瘤（secondery cancer）。
而肿瘤的命名是相当复杂的。
tumor 是指所有的肿瘤，无论其良恶性和组织来源，任何的肿瘤都可以泛称为tumor。
cancer是指所有的恶性肿瘤的总称，其范围较tumor为小。
carcinoma是指所有上皮组织来源的恶性肿瘤，如鳞状细胞癌squamous cell carcinoma,或者来源于腺上皮的腺癌adenocarcinoma。
因此可见caicinoma 是cancer的一部分，而相应的cancer中的另外一大类恶性肿瘤是肉瘤（sarcoma）,泛指由间叶组织来源的恶性肿瘤，如骨肉瘤osteosarcoma,纤维肉瘤fibrosarcoma等。
而肿瘤的命名是相当复杂的。

个人觉得，cancer 通俗些，而carcinoma更专业，但两者之间没有本质区别。

: exactly... 转移性病灶 ... when the cells become metastatic (breaking away from the original cancer site -- indicating and advanced case of disease development), "cancer" is likely expected (instead of the more neutral term "tumor")

: cancer和carcinoma的本质区别在于carcinoma是上皮组织由来的cancer。换句话说，是cancer中的一部分。癌可侵袭邻近组织也可经由淋巴等转移到远隔部位，原来的癌叫做原发癌，在转移处的癌称为转移癌，具有和原来的癌同样的组织形态。而这种组织形态变化就称为转移灶。leison本身的意思是病灶的意思。如果是necrotic lesion，则称为坏死灶。
