Glossary entry (derived from question below)
English term or phrase:
Hospis Palliative Care
Bengali translation:
হসপিস প্যালিয়েটিভ কেয়ার
English term
Hospice/Hospis Palliative Care
I find this term 'Hospice Palliative Care' pretty hard to translate.
The service is focused on providing relief from pain over attempts at curing a disease, and is usually provided at home or at a facility like a nursing homes, instead of a hospital.
[Hospis is a wide range of program that focus on the relief from any pain and other painful symptoms besides putting importance on ensuring the assistance to the patient and the family regarding their psychological, spiritual and practical needs.]
Can anyone suggest a decent meaningful equivalent for “Hospice/Hospis" and "Palliative"? Please also suggest a term equivalent to “hospice care”, “hospice palliative care” & “palliative care”, if possible.
I have even tried the term “Curing Service” as a shadow source but it seems an inaccurate translation and doesn't fit well. Also transliteration will not fit in here.
Some sentences that need to be translated with these terms:
"The awareness about the Palliative Care Service and conduct of the Hospis"
"Please mention if you are aware about the palliative pare service and conduct of the hospis"

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.
Proposed translations
Hospice/Hospis প্রশমনকারী সেবা
palliative care could be translated as প্রশমনকারী সেবা (প্যালিয়েটিভ কেয়ার). Many people would not understand প্রশমনকারী সেবা as is, so it is better to add (প্যালিয়েটিভ কেয়ার) after this.
“Curing Service” is not acceptable because palliative care means trying to relieve pain and give some comfort without curing the disease because the disease is NOT curable.
When a professional translator like you says, "I find this term \'Hospice Palliative Care\' pretty hard to translate." then the question must be a PRO question, but you marked it as non-PRO. Please change it to a PRO question. Thank you.
