I am currently working on a translation on soil pollution/soil remediation, and am having problems with the above term.
The context is as follows:
Vluchtige verbindingen worden verwijderd door afzuigen van de bodemlucht, die vervolgens bovengrondsgereinigd wordt. Dit heet bodemluchtextractie.
Toepassing is vanzelfsprekend alleen voor vluchtige stoffen mogelijk zoals perchloorethyleen, trichloorethyleen, benzine, benzeen, tolueen, xyleen, ethylbenzeen en methyleenchloride.
Het spreekt voor zich, dat deze methode alleen te gebruiken is voor goed doorlatende grond zoals zandgrond.
Can I simply use the phrase 'soil air extraction'?

: Vapours are extracted. Contaminant solvent to vapour, from soil to air occurs naturally whereafter the contaminated air is purified. To wich process does "extractie" refer? To the naturally induced one or to the technical decontamination process above?
