Jun 4, 2012 02:08: Barend van Zadelhoff changed "Edited KOG entry" from "<a href="/profile/133080">Barend van Zadelhoff's</a> old entry - "canaliculaire leverset"" to ""Elevated GGT and ALP/cholestatic liver tests""
Proposed translations
canalicular liver tests
or: abnormal GGT and ALP levels
'leverset' means 'liver tests'
Leverset (AF, GGT, AST, ALT, Bili)

'canalicular' refers to the 'bile canaliculi'

Cholestatische en canaliculaire levertesten
- γGT : (♀<40) (♂<50) (nier, lever (brush-border),
pancreas, hart). Vooral verhoogd bij
galwegobstructie, maar ook medicatie en alcohol
(enzyminductie), myocardinfarct, congestief
hartfalen, acute pancreatitis, chronisch nierfalen,
COPD)
- Alkalische fosfatase (40-120) (4 fracties : darm,
lever, bot, placenta). Meestal significant gestegen
bij cholestatisch leverlijden, vaak enige afwijking
(met hoge γGT) bij galstuwing, multifocale
intrahepatische galwegobstructie, of bij infiltratieve
ziekten (sarcoïdose, amyloïdose, HCC, diffuse
metastasering).

apparently the canalicular liver tests refer to gamma-GT and AF
Elevated serum GGT activity can be found in diseases of the liver, biliary system, and pancreas. In this respect, it is similar to alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in detecting disease of the biliary tract.

Both liver transaminases and canalicular liver tests were normal.

Thank you, Vert-ical Tr! I prefer my second option '(abnormal) GGT and ALP levels', and its 'translations' suggested in the discussion entries can be used as well.

Recently, some investigators also observed that the elevation of cholestatic liver function tests (alkaline phosphatase, gamma-glutamyltransferase and bilirubin)
"LFTs suggestive of bile obstruction or cholestasis" would be a free translation :-) of 'abnormal GGT and ALP levels' and perhaps a little bit more safe/general option because we are not 100% sure it is just these two enzyms
http://www.britishlivertrust.org.uk/home/the-liver/liver-dis...
Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), an enzyme found mainly in the bile ducts of the liver. Increases in ALP and another liver enzyme called Gamma GT (GGT) can indicate obstructive or cholestatic liver disease, where bile is not properly transported from the liver because of obstruction (blockage) of the bile duct.
it hardly occurs anywhere
what do you think of abnormal GGT and ALP levels?
I could get no definite proof it concerned just these two enzymes though, but it seems plausible
