Dutch term

weerhouden

Dutch to English Medical Medical (general)
Regarding a Flemish text:
I know it has been asked before, but I'm still not sure I can find the right word in English in this context:

It is in a letter about a patient from a doctor to his GP, in the section 'Bespreking', where the doctor is giving an overview of the patient's treatment while on his ward.
"Uw patient wordt door u verwezen wegens thoracale pijnklachten. Wij weerhouden:
Kritisch hoofdstamletsel." - the report goes on to describe what happened to the patient on the ward, including the subsequent treatment.

Thanks for any suggestions.

ie. we have retained/have noted (the following facts/info). Don't think it means much more than this.

in overweging nemen / rekening houden met / mee

"Wij weerhouden: Kritisch hoofdstamletsel." =

1. Wij houden er rekening mee dat het kritisch hoofdstamletsel zou kunnen zijn.

2. Wij overwegen dat het kritisch hoofdstamletsel zou kunnen zijn.

In België wordt *weerhouden* ook wel in de volgende betekenis gebruikt (hetgeen echter geen standaard taal is):

'in overweging nemen, rekening houden met';

Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : this is Nl-En, not Dutch monolingual. what do you suggest in English?

I'm sorry. I can't think of anything in English. Maybe a native English speaker..

diagnose

I agree with all the notes added ... in Belgium 'weerhouden' has additional meanings than in the Netherlands ... see added definitions below:

"Your patient was referred to us by you with chest pains. We have diagnosed (or diagnose): bla, bla, bla"
