Een gevleugelde uitdrukking of gevleugeld begrip is een term of zegswijze die in het algemeen spraakgebruik ingang gevonden heeft en ontleend is aan een min of meer bekende vondst van de bedenker ervan, die daarbij zelf vaak niet meer genoemd wordt (zijn woorden zijn hem of haar "ontvlogen", dat wil zeggen een eigen leven gaan leiden).
