Dutch term

suppetere

Dutch to English Bus/Financial Law (general)
The term 'suppete' occurs in an old Dutch text which also contains some Latin. I hope a translation from the infinitive 'suppetere' will help me find the meaning in my specific Dutch text but I can't find this verb in the online Latin dictionaries. Sorry for the lack of context.

Discussion

Evert DELOOF-SYS Nov 29, 2004:
En is het nu 'suppete' or 'supete'?
Zsanett Rozendaal-Pandur Nov 29, 2004:
Misschien het verstandigste om een historicus of nederlandicus te vragen. Gevoelsmatig zou ik iets van God of Heer, enz verwachten.
Non-ProZ.com Nov 29, 2004:
context An intestor is asked to make an oath in keeping with the 'name and soul' of the 'supete' in front of town councillors (probably before collecting his inheritance). (In Dutch original: 'in den naam and ziele van den supete'). Only 1 p, I know, but I am trying to trace the word to existing sound-alike words since the same 18th century text also contains some other Latin that I can understand. I admit that the word I am looking for is a noun but I asked for the nearest verb I could find on the Net in a 19th century text.
Zsanett Rozendaal-Pandur Nov 29, 2004:
Could you give us the sentence in which this word occurs, and some context, please? It could simply be a typo, e.g. for "suppletie".

suppetere= voorhanden zijn, volstaan

Wat meer context of zinsdelen zou erg bruikbaar zijn.
