Danish term

mere subsidiært

Danish to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
I am familiar with subsidiært meaning alternatively / in the alternative, but unsure what the proper formulation for mere subsidiært would be. It appears in a will stipulating a third possibility for each share of the inheritance. I.e. in the first instance it goes to one son, subsidiært their children, mere subsidiært, somebody else.

E.g. 1/8 skal tilfalde mit barnebarn, Claus, subsidiært, Aksel, mere subsidiært, Frederik. For example.

further or alternatively

Note that it is further *or* - rather than - *and* alternatively.

Though I agree that the first answer is a neat (Anglo-Irish!) legal drafting technique, I'd prefer 'in the first instance going to one son, subsidiært = *alternatively* to their children and mere subsidiært *further or alternatively*, to somebody else.

PS I can find, in the ProZ glossaries, the ENG phrase of 'further or alternatively' only into non-Scandinavian lingos, like Spanish & Polish, but - in transit right now - haven't got time to explore further in Faroese and Icelandic etc.
Example sentence:

'further or alternatively' is correct and can be used in written English. It is an adverb phrase used to indicate a second option to something previously mentioned.
