Danish term

feriefridage

Danish to English Bus/Financial personnel policies
Company personnel policies. Here, regarding leave of various types. If a 'fridag' is a public holiday, and 'ferie' is meant as going-away holiday (or not), what is a feriefridag?
I'd be grateful..

extra days off with pay

"Særlige feriefridage" are extra days off with pay that employees in the public sector "earn" as a supplement to their regular paid vacation. As of 2001 the number of extra days off is 5 per year, and the name has been changed to særlige feriedage. See link.

agree Christine Andersen : Not only in the public sector - some private companies have schemes as well. They are supposed to be cheaper than pay rises! ane employees value them just as highly, especially if a pay rise is liable to be eaten up by higher tax.

Thanks. True. But if you don't use them before they "expire" you actually get cash instead (eventually).

It would be a day off that is \'deducted\' from your vacation days: Days off as vacation days.
Peer comment(s):

agree Grégoire Thygesen : Sounds good to me. I prefer just plain "vacation days" - at least that's the term we used when I worked in the U.S.

agree Suzanne Blangsted (X) : misspelling, not vacations days off but vacation days off (one is day, two or more are days).

agree crowntrans (X) : any day off is a fridag but a vacation fridag is a dy off against your vacation credit
