Discussion

Radovan Pletka (asker) Jan 20, 2008:
Podekovani vsem za velmi plodnou a poucnou diskuzi. Nakonec jsem to prelozil jako
PROOF OF DELIVERY BY JUDICIAL GUARD (Doručenka pro justiční stráž).

Justicni straz: presny popis, definicia, historia, podmienky atd http://www.nssoud.cz, dalej > Administrative Court of the Cz.R >dalej "Code of Administrative Justice" +++
Igor Liba Jan 20, 2008:
Igor Liba Jan 20, 2008:
Sud v USA posle dokumenty sudu v CR. Tieto dokumenty na zaklade zakona par. 22, bod (5) odsek c) zakona 555/1992 doruci prislusnik JUSTICNEJ STRAZE zalovanej strane resp. inemu "adresatovi". Ide teda o jednu z funkcii justicnej straze.
Pavel Blann Jan 19, 2008:
ok, nyní víme kontext. všechny odpovědi jsou špatné. zadejte prosím dotaz znovu. díky.
Radovan Pletka (asker) Jan 19, 2008:
Soudni dokumenty z US zalovane strane v Cesku
Pavel Blann Jan 19, 2008:
Elizabeth Spacilova Jan 19, 2008:
Oh yeah, and ... sometimes it helps to look at the German ... like in this case. Indeed Justizhauptwachtmeister(in) -- lit hlavní justiční stražmistr(yně) -- is translated into EN as bailiff.
Elizabeth Spacilova Jan 19, 2008:
... CZ "bailiffs" serve orders. That is practice ... in theory (Oxford Dict of Law and Black's Law Dict) the bailiff "(serves) the court's processes and (enforces) its orders" (Ox), "executes writs and serves processes" (B).
Elizabeth Spacilova Jan 19, 2008:
...supplied with enough office supplies, accompany sequestered jurors to motels etc. I think that these are just 'details', though. The main functions of justicni straz and bailiffs are the same, but where US "justicni straz" is busy with jurors ...
Elizabeth Spacilova Jan 19, 2008:
Reviewing job descriptions for bailiffs in the U.S., I see their main tasks are to ensure order in the courtroom -- but also other things that I am sure the justicni straz in CZ do not have to do, like fill the water pitchers and make sure the court is...
Radovan Pletka (asker) Jan 18, 2008:
Zde je Justicni straz dorucujici organ, prekladam dorucenku Justicni straze, ze dodali ceske strane soudni dokumenty. Bailiff je spravny preklad justicni straze, kdyz vykonava sluzbu v soudni sini jako obzalovany vstane a podobne, US Marshals je vlastn ekvivalent vezenske sluzby v US, ale tady je to funkce ve smyslu dorucovani dokumentu, znama fraze z filmu, You have been served, a sotek vam vrazi do ruky soudni dokumenty
Pavel Blann Jan 18, 2008:

Judicial Guard

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Diky vam i Igorovi"

courthouse guard

BTW, Google tuto kolokaci vrací 1650x, "judicial guard" 190x

Note from asker:
You are right, Judicial guard is serving the documents

court-appointed officer

Based on Radek's description, this is the term that most fits the act of serving (executing) papers. It must be a person officially charged by the court to do so.
Example sentence:

"The court appointed officer must file reports with the court and notify the parties of all property that is seized and any payments that have been made from that property", source: http://courts.michigan.gov/scao/selfhelp/collection/seize_help.htm#serve

Bailiff

Bailiff - "A court officer who maintains order during court proceedings." (Black's Law Dictionary).

"Justiční stráž zajišťuje pořádek a bezpečnost v budově soudu a při výkonu pravomoci Nejvyššího správního soudu" (http://www.nssoud.cz/justicni_straz.php)

Looks like a match to me.

Sorry, forgot definition no. 2 from Black's: "A sheriff's officer who executes writs and serves processes". Further down in the link to the NSS, "doručování písemností soudu" is included in the "job description". So I stand by my suggestion.

So Radovan has answered himself correctly... "Marshal" is also a good option (at least in US English). Black's Law Dict "2. A judicial officer who provides court security, executes process, and performs other tasks for the court." The job description here http://www.careerplanner.com/DOT-Job-Descriptions/DEPUTY-UNI... notes that marshals "serve civil and criminal writs". So "Bailiff" or "Marshal" both work. Good job Radovan ;-)
