洪亮的乐声或钟声。 Resonating/sonorous sound of the bell. Considering that this is a poem, resonating is more appropriate. A resonating sound is by definition quite voluminous. :-)

bellow/boom or foghorn
If it's clear that a whale is being discussed, 'bellow' or 'boom' could be appropriate ('bellow' being more angry, boom more neutral). If it's more lyrical, a 'foghorn' is more the sound I think of when I hear whales, but that's a poetic stretch (which seems it could fit in this context).

: agree with your suggested wording, but 鲸 here is not "whale", instead, it just signifies "large, big, tremendous, macro" or the like. we use 鯨川,鯨浪, 鯨舟, 鯨音 and so on, all the 鯨 means "large".
