Chinese term

旅舘

Non-PRO Chinese to English Science Education / Pedagogy Grammatical Analysis
Sentence: 他每天晚上去報館做事,早上回旅舘睡覺,中午到飯館去吃飯。

1st Attempt: Every evening he goes to work at the newspaper. In the morning he returns to his hotel and sleeps. For lunch he goes to a restaurant.

Question: What is a 旅舘? Does it refer to a special kind of overnight accommodation, or can it be anything from a family run motel to a major international hotel -- including such things as an overnight hot spring, country cabin, roadside lodge, youth hostel, etc.?

As always you are welcome to comment on other parts of the sentence, as well.

hotel

It typically refers to a hotel.

As you suspected, it could range anywhere from a five-star international hotel down to a bed-and-breakfast. As with restaurants, the way to tell them apart is to add something in the front:

高级旅馆 high class hotel
小旅馆 small hotel
简陋的旅馆 flea-bag hotel
