Is this a Chinese idiom. If I have understood the meaning of this sentence properly, it certainly translates into the English idiom I provided.
Problem 1: How is the word 主張 in the phrase 主人的主張 to be translated? I have things in mind like "the role of ...", "the position of ...", "the job of ...".
Problem 2: Does the 了 in this sentence indicate what the result would be, if there were two many chefs? Is this, in fact, the way the English conditional tense of an imagined event is constructed in written Chinese?
