Heresyor innovation
I prefer to use the word heresy and put just beside it the transliteration of " Bid'ah" between two pratices in order to avoid the connotations of the word heresy, mainly " Al Hartaqah" and to give the word it's Islamic flavour. However, if a sentence includes both "Mohdathah" and "Bid'ah", the former, in my own opinion, is to be translated as innovation.
