Registration Act, cap.108 of the Revised Laws 2002. The law came into force on 1st April 1921. Prior to that, births and deaths were governed by Proclamation No. 15 of 1917 (Civil Area). Both laws provided for compulsory registration of births and deaths for non-Africans whereas for the Africans it was voluntary.
