correct name for a dog breed
A Polish bus manufacturer has adopted a green dachshund logo for its range of low floor buses (long, low-slung and generally good-natured/friendly). To see the logo on the front of the buses please click on:

I need an English name for the logo. "Dachshund" seems very official and does not sound partucularly well, "sausage dog" seems too colloquial, even though the logo itself is tongue-in-cheek. Is "badger dog" the answer here then?
Your opinions will be much appreciated :-)

\"Sausage dog\" is insulting, and therefore an unsuitable translation for your purpose.
\"Badger dog\" is not a breed, but a most controversial use of the dog.

Comment: "I believe "Dachsie" indeed would be most appropriate for my purpose as it sounds not only like a generic name, but also, uses with a degree of affection, like a pampered pet's name. Thank you, Sven :-)"

: they get nicknamed "sausage dogs", but the correct term is dachshund. Never heard them called a badger dog in English!

: Most people know what a dachshund breed is. A sausage dog sounds like what I am going to eat for lunch! Badger dog--I've never heard of it.

"weiner dog"
This is a very common nickname for dashhunds. again, you have the whole "tongue-in-cheek" issue to deal with but it's cute and in common usage. Just another option.
