German term

unbeaufsichtigtes Aufleuchten

German to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng EMC-testing
This is an acceptance criterion in a list of EMV-Anforderungen (EMC requirements). Under the heading "Funktion der Anzeigen und Steuerteile", one of the points in "Annahmekriterium B" is "unbeaufsichtigtes LED Aufleuchten". My question is: does this simply mean an LED coming on when it should not, although (as far as I know) "unbeaufsichtigt" means "unsupervised", not "incorrect".

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Mar 10, 2005:
Appearance under "Annahmekriterium B" means that criterion B can be satisfied even if "unbeaufsichtigtes LED Aufleuchten" occurs.

unbeabsichtigtes Aufleuchten?

I'm wondering if it's a typo - unbeabsichtigtes Aufleuchten gets far more Google hits than unbeaufsichtigtes Aufleuchten.

That would of course make your suggested interpretation right - coming on when it shouldn't.

agree Ken Cox : sounds right to me

neutral Leonid Gornik : I think they wanted to say "undue" or "false", but instead put "inadvertent".. Just a thought...

could mean that the LED lights up but there is no human intervention so go for Plan B

Google evidence inconclusive:
\"unbeabsichtigtes Aufleuchten\" (in quotes) gets one ggl hit
\"unbeaufsichtigtes Aufleuchten\" (in quotes) gets zero ggl hits
(It is important to place the source phrase in double quote marks to narrow the search down)

agree Elimar Orlopp : "unmonitored status" would be really nice if it is not a typo...
