sorry for the many questions

"So looking at the build solution, XXX sells the WebSphere Commerce Family of Products and some of the probing questions that you can ask your customer to get a discussion going include:
...
What features and capabilities are important to you in this solution? For example, ***cross-channel pickups and returns*** -- is that an important feature to your company?"

...pick up what and return what?? -
(I think channel refers to sale channel, i.e. normal shop and e-shop are two channels)

pickup at one channel what you purchased from another

You are right that channel refers to a retail channel, e.g. internet shopping or actual store - See the link below:

The idea is to be able to pickup what you bought from one channel what you bought from another. So for example, you could purchase something online and pick it up at the store. Likewise for returning - Example:

Amazon.com is confronting mounting competitive pressure from traditional retailers that can offer more customer-service options, such as store returns for online purchases, and store pickups for online orders. This kind of competition between a pure online retailer and traditional retailers expanding to the web has never happened before.

The idea is to be able to pickup at one channel what you bought from another.
