You said it. I don't think there is a single adjective or adverb that implies both smooth and steady (although the two together imply non-jerky) - but will be happy to be proven wrong. I doubt speed has anything to do with it in this context.

My feeling was that the \"non-jerky\" was (if at all) best implied by \"swiftly\", but I may be wrong there. Anyway, \"zügig\" does not really say that either. What you want to say may rather be implied from the following sentence \"Ein Aufschlagen ist nicht statthaft\".
