again my air filter (for diesel engine, radial seal type)
in a picture, this refers to a threaded part:
"Highly Durable Resin Construction
Plastic or metal mounting options"
what's this "mounting"? does it mean that the threaded section may be in plastic of metal, or does it refer to a plastic/metal support?

Based on the picture which I have seen, the filter's housing is made of resin, but as the text explains, durable enough to be twisted onto plastic or metal attachments in the vehicle or heavy machinery. The term "mounting" here refers to the threaded attachment into which the filter's housing fits. So it does not have to be metal on metal, this resin's thread is tough enough to fit into a threaded metal mounting as well as plastic.

Like Clauwolf, my initial reaction would be that this is referring to the unit's suitability for mounting INTO a housing made of either plastic or metal
HOWEVER, it is just conceivable that they are talking about the filter mount (or mounting) itself, and hence saying that the filter is available with the mounting part made from either plastic or metal.

First you know to on what material the filter will be mounted, and would ask to the seller: \"I need a filter to mount on plastic material (or metal)\"; then he/she will deliver the right filter.
