German term

sentence

German to English Other Textiles / Clothing / Fashion
Could anyone pls give me a rough gist of this sentence, I am struggling, esp. as to the meaning of Limite (financial limits??) and holen in this context. Thanks :)

Im Gegenteil, je weiter wir uns hinsichtlich des Verkaufszeitraumes von der CPD in Düsseldorf weg bewegt haben, desto geringer fielen die Limite unserer Kunden aus, bis in den genannten Gebieten im März nahezu gar nichts mehr zu holen war

(upper) price limit, nothing to gain

"Limite" is plural of "Limit" (not as common as "Limits", but as correct in German): the price limit for a planned business transaction. "Nichts zu holen" is (sort of) "You won't get anything there". - The more time passed between the CPD in Düsseldorf and the sales period in question, the less were clients willing to pay, until in March almost nothing could be gained in the areas mentioned.

s.u.

Ich denke, dass das ein Plural von "das Limit" sein soll, aber der Satz ist tatsaechlich seltsam. Es koennte mit "Kaufschwelle" interpretiert werden, d.h. der Wunsch etwas zu erwerben.

my take

On the contrary, the farther we became removed from the CPD at Düsseldorf in terms of sales duration, the more apparent became our customers' [financial] limitations, to the point when in March we were practically scraping the bottom of the barrel in the aforementioned areas.

I'm sure the 'wegbewegen' here refers to the passage of time, not distance. So, you might say 'the further the CPD recedes into the background in terms of .... or simply 'the more time had passed since the CPD in terms' etc
