neutral Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) : Xenia...it is not wise to translate words..you have to know a discourse to translate the meaning in the other language...:) that's why words are not enough.....

2nd place, runner-up (by teams)

First of all, the Admiral's Cup during Cowes week is a team event, and not an individual event. However, (by teams) can be added for further clarification and information to the translation.

I have serached on several sites:
http://rorc.org/admiralscup/history/1999/default.html
http://www.bearofbritain.com/index.asp?sctn=Press Releases&i...

and there isn't an enormous amount of information for the Admiral's Cup, or its past winners.

Like Jane, in any competition, in English we also state 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, etc. The overall champions or winners are known as that and losers (from 2nd place onwards) are called 'runners'up'. Therefore, an individual 2nd placed team would be a 2nd place, runner-up (by teams).

Suerte,
Neil.
