“The Chinese market has been very good for us. The Spiderman game sells for 8Rmb [nearly one US dollar]. The market really only started in October last year, so it too early to give numbers, but they are very strong,” says Vishal Gondal, director of IndiaGames, a leading Indian games developer. Gondal is confident that the ‘encouraging’ numbers in China will continue. However, though it is undeniably large, there may be some challenges in the Chinese market. “In China, there are some very, very stringent rules. Basically, China Mobile is the only show in town for Java games,” says Ansari.
