As Edith correctly says the translation will depend upon the context. If you are referring to 'a beautiful woman' then 'bean bhreá' or, even better, 'spéirbhean'; 'álainn' has the connotation of 'beautiful or lovely' as in a 'beautiful house' or 'a lovely face'; 'dóighiúil' has the connotation of 'handsome'; and 'maisiúil' refers to 'decorative', 'elegant' or 'comely'.
