Discussion

Vladimir Dubisskiy Oct 27, 2004:
Your "documentaries" here works just fine.
Larissa Dinsley Oct 27, 2004:
Well, it is a type of a documentary, but there are more different types. In other words,documentary has a wider meaning.
Non-ProZ.com Oct 27, 2004:
How about "documentaries"? "Cinematic chronicle" seems like a very rare term. Would "documentary" be accurate? I know there is another term for documentary in Russian, but the point seems to be that it is a non-fiction film.

documentary series/documentary chronicle

let's go for a compromiseor :-)
No doubt there's a difference between "kinoletopis" and "dokumentalnii film" as the first is mostly concerned with cinematic perpetuation of say country's historical events, whereas the latter tends to be of a rather descriptive nature.

Peer comment(s):

agree Montefiore : both cinematic and film chronicles are OK. I would prefer 'cinematic", too, but the American reader is another story:) actually "cinematography chronicle," or "cinematographic chronicle" may do the trick

Thank you Montefiore! I am not sure if "cinematography" or "cinematographic" chronicle are widely used. I have never come across these combinations.
