French term

(PFdevi + n° GPAO)

Homework / test French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
Would I be right in translating this as (PS quote + CAPM no.), PS for principal supplier. Here's the context:

A réception de la demande de prix, un numéro de devis est attribué informatiquement. Chaque poste, figurant dans la demande prix, est codifié (PFdevi + n° GPAO)

Thanks in advance

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Oct 26, 2004:
The text is very short and this was the only equivalent for PF that I could find that looked like it would fit into the context although of course I'm not sure which is why I'm querying it. If you can think of anything more appropriate please let me know.
Didier Briel Oct 26, 2004:
How do you go from PF to PS? PF is not likely to be Principal Fournisseur in French. Do you have other parts of the document where you have an indication that PF=Principal Supplier?

FP quote + CAPM No.

Alternative explanation for PF:
In French CAPM, PF is normally Produit Fini.
Standard translation for PF is FP: Finished Product.
This would perhaps make sense, if they build a product from different products.
As for CAPM no.:
When you write "GPAO no.", that means "number given by the GPAO", GPAO in this context is the software they use. It should be substituted in English by whatever term you use to mention this software. It can be a bespoke development, in which case the name cannot be guessed, or CAPM (not usual), or MRP, or ERP, etc.
