What would be the British term for "propiedad horizontal"? In South Africa we use the term "Sectional Title", but I don't know whether this terms is used in any other part of the world and specifically in the UK.

commonhold
I have just come across this new concept which has apparently just become law in the UK. It appears to be the equivalent of this type of property ownership which up until now didn't exist here.
A lawyer introduces Commonhold, the first new type of home ownership for eighty
years. ... Commonhold will be a new kind of freehold ownership. ...

... adopted in new developments and a group of flat-owners cannot ... a statutory right to collective enfranchisement, the joint purchase of the freehold and this ...

I don\'t know if you can get the bbc link so am adding this:
Commonhold, a new way of owning property in England and Wales, is about to become law. The change will allow leaseholders to dispense with their landlord and obtain a share of the freehold. But the system is not without its pitfalls, as a London-based property lawyer explains.
On 27 September a new type of property ownership, Commonhold, will come into existence.
This is quite a momentous event since it is the first new type of ownership in English law to be created since 1925.
There are currently two main ways of owning property in England and Wales: freehold and leasehold.
Commonhold will be a new kind of freehold ownership.
Commonhold bears certain resemblances to Strata Title, a type of home ownership which has been in use in Australia for 50 years, and to a number of other property-owning systems throughout the world, such as Condominiums in the US.
In fact, until now the English system was the odd one out. The introduction of commonhold will bring us into line with most other countries.

Joint freehold is the term given in the Oxford Spanish Dictionary but it\'s not the exact equivalent. \'Commonhold\' has just come into existence so isn\'t widely used yet.

Horizontal Property
Declined
To provide a ready reference to the complete English translation of Spain’s Law of Horizontal Property, the law that regulates communities of property owners.

The law that regulates this system is called the Law of Horizontal Property – la ley de propiedad horizontal. This law, originally passed in 1960 and amended in April 1999, is actually more vertical than horizontal because it applies mainly to apartment buildings, although it also covers townhouse developments of attached units.
Communities of owners on urbanisations of detached villas do not come under the Horizontal Law, although provisions of the new 1999 law make it easier for them to use the Horizontal Law’s protection.
