The amount of the think tanks have been operating is a kay factor...

I'll probably be able to improve the sentence when it's not 1:26 in the morning, but anyway, I don't think you should necessarily try and find a specific word to translate "antigüedad" here. Translate the message, not the words.

These options emphasize the existence or survivability of a think tank over the long term. Track record and experience may or may not be part of the equation. I know of several think tanks that are highly esteemed just because they have staying power -- they have been around forever -- but in some cases what they "think" has proven to be entirely wrong. No matter. They are continually referred to and held up in speeches and bidding processes as worthy simply because of their long, old age.
