Fresh may also have negative connotations. I remember being told "not to be fresh", that is "forward, bold, impertinent," I believe, which would be translated in Italian as "sfacciata" (feminine singular), impertinente (feminine and masculine singular).
One can be friendly, too friendly and end up being fresh.

sfacciato (masc singular)

Fresh can also be said of:
- food: meal, fruit, vegetables, bread, etc.,
- flowers,
- newly arrived, recent, prevoiously unknown things or persons,
- wind: sailors say that the wind is fresh when its rather strong, but with any reference to its temperature: Fresh Breeze, figure 5 in the Beaufort Wind Scale, or Fresh Gale, figure 8,
- etc., etc., etc.
The above are only few examples of the usage you can do in English of that word. Note that you won't tranlsate all the above with the same word, in Italian.

As to "fresh," I simply wanted to highlight one of the "extreme" meaning of fresh, where friendly edges onto the improper.
