: I agree that the Sockel is above ground - but the foundations, like the basement are (except in unusual cases) below ground, so this is not a good translation

Here's the note you wanted to add: I have found "wall fissure" or "foot of the wall". However I am wondering if there is an equivalent in English and what that might be.
