English term

anatomical snuffbox

English to Spanish Medical Medical (general) musculoskeletal system
Esta es para sacar nota:

"The extensor pollicis longus tendon curves around the dorsal radial tubercle of Lister and continues to insert on the thumb. It is the lateral tendon of the "snuffbox", palpable at the distal wrist made prominent by extending thumb against resistance."

Buscando "snuffbox", encontré:

SNUFFBOX: A small box for holding "snuff", usually carried about by a person.
SNUFF: A scented, powdered tobacco. Tha habit of sniffing ot ihnaling a pinch of snuff was common in the UK in the 18th century.

(Es decir, "rapé" y "cajita de rapé")

La segunda acepción de "snuffbox" es:

ANATOMICAL SNUFFBOX: (Popular way of referring to an anatomical structure.) A hollow seen on the radial aspect (the thumbside) of the dorsum (the back) of the wrist when the thumb is extended fully. The reason that it is called "anatomical snuffbox" is that snuff (powdered tobacco) could be put there and inhaled.
