German term

abknicken (conveyor belt)

German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering: Industrial Conveyor belts

*There may be something missing after Winkel.

There is a blank space after Winkel, leading me to believe that the specification of a degree is missing.

I don't think there's anything missing...

it's just that the past participle "abgeknickt" is only used once for brevity - "wird einmal..[abgeknickt].. und...nochmals abgeknickt".

"Abknicken" is a slightly strange word in this context, since it often means "to snap a piece off something", or "to kink" - but here it seems to mean simply "to bend, turn" - like "abbiegen".

So the belt is forced to "make a turn/turn at an angle" once by the "äusseren Tragrollen" and then again by the "Gleitplatten", so it forms a 4-sided "Mulde".

Does that make sense?!
Peer comment(s):

agree jccantrell : It may be missing an degree number, say, 45 degrees, but I agree with John that it can get away without it, and abknicken might mean a really BIG angle, like 90 degrees.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks, John et al. I ended up using bent. I didn't want to use angled, because of all the angles afterwards."

angled

It's very likely that there is a degree value missing.
Your text describes the procedure of angling the sides of a (flat) conveyor belt upwards by means of rollers or guide plates, thus forming a channel (Mulde) into which the bulk material can flow.
See ref for a picture of a conveyor with just two angles (yours has four 'vorzugsweise').
