English term

Sanctuary / our Sanctuary (Healing retreat centre) - Heil-Oase?

English to German Marketing Tourism & Travel
Hi

I'm busy translating a website for a healing retreat centre that uses the word "sanctuary" in their name and also for a category name and in the main content.

Everything direct translation sounds weird or doesn't fit (e.g. "Zufluchtsort").

I was thinking of using a term like "Heil-Oase" (healing oasis).

As I don't just want to say "our healing centre" or "our retreat centre". As they were obviously selecting the term "sanctuary" for a reason and didn't just call it "our retreat centre".

"Centre" sounds too flat. I wanna come up with something nice but Sanctuary is a weird yerm to translate.

It obviously needs to imply that it is a safe healing space but as mentioned: I don't think "Zufluchtsort" works here and it's also way too long for a category name.

Best I came up with so far is "Heil-Oase".

If anyone has a better idea, please let me know .

Thank you

Discussion

Schtroumpf Jun 5:
Kontext?
Tanja K Jun 5:
"Unsere Oase der Ruhe" oder "Ein Rückzugsort" - als weitere Vorschläge.

Refugium/Heilrefugium

Note from asker:
Hi. Thanks. Someone else also mentioned this. Is this really a known term? I was thinking of using something like "your retreat experience" and just leave it as "Retreat" and not Refugium? Refugium sounds quite stiff to me. The place is not in Germany but outside of Europe where things are a bit moe easy-going.

agree Ulrich Eberhardt : "Refugium" funktioniert wahrscheinlich

Ruheort

?

Just a suggestion.

"Oase" is too positive IMO.

But if they use "sanctuary" in their name, you may need to stick to that (even if not understood by target audience).
Note from asker:
Hi. Thanks. They also use sanctuary in their name and I will leave their name as it. But there is a category that's called "the sanctuary". That describes the oremisesz rooms, daily activities and wellness/healing offers. I may just go with "your retreat experience"

Gesundheitsresort

Gesundheitsresort / Wellness-Resort
Erholungszentrum

"Resort" is used very often in a variety of ways. "Erholungszentrum" therefore has a somewhat old-fashioned flair.
It ultimately depends on what is on offer.
"Resort" is a rather neutral term which can therefore be combined with "our". Terms which rather emphasize the effect on the customers would go less well in my opinion.

Note from asker:
Hi. Thanks. I may just go with "your retreat experience". I think resort is too much like a hotel. They want to convey this is a place where people retreat, a hideaway.

English term (edited): sanctuary / our sanctuary (healing retreat centre)

Wellness-Oase

Oase finde ich gut und das wird sehr gerne mit Wellness kombiniert. Also Kategoriename würde vielleicht einfach Wellness gut passen.
