Hi,
I'm looking for an adequate translation for the above term, which appears in the sentence below:
"Initial hatte die Patientin einen Sauerstoffbedarf von 12l/min über die Reservoirmaske".
Has anyone any pointers?
Kind regards,
Alison.

mask (non-rebreather or non-rebreathing mask)
Based on the 12 l/min flow rate this is likely a non-rebreather (non-rebreathing mask) and you may decide to describe the mask as such or just use the generic mask.

To be even more specific one could call this a non-rebreather reservoir mask but this strikes me as being cumbersome and unnecessary.
Common daily usage here in the USA is non-rebreather mask or simply non-rebreather (see hits on Google).
The partial rebreather mask option is ruled out by the O2 flow rate in excess of 10 lpm.

reservoir mask
Reservoir Mask
It consists of a face mask connected to a reservoir bag that's filled with a high concentration of oxygen. The reservoir bag is connected to an oxygen tank. The mask covers both your nose and mouth. One-way valves prevent exhaled air from reentering the oxygen reservoir.
For acutely breathless patients not at risk of hypercapnic respiratory failure who have saturations below 85%, treatment should be started with a reservoir mask at 15 L/min in the first instance.

Reservoir Mask Two types are commonly used: 1) Partial rebreathing mask 2) Non rebreathing Both are disposable, light wt.,transperent plastic under the chin reservoirs. Diff. between two is placement of a valve between mask and bag and over mask.

Patients with asthma, left ventricular failure, pneumonia, pneumothorax, trauma, etc, should be treated appropriately for their condition using 40%–60% oxygen via a medium concentration mask (4–10 l/min) for milder cases or a reservoir mask for hypoxic patients and for all major trauma cases.
