English to Italian Science Medical: Instruments testing swabs

Hi I am translating the description of some testing swabs with or without transport medium. In the description of the dry swab, there is a list of materials used for the swab: cotton, viscose etc so that the customer can choose the most appropriate for their type of test.
One of the material is described as Cotton Taper. I am not sure what it means. Could it mean that it is made of cotton and it has a more conic shape? I cannot find any other reference online. Thank you
