French term
Adhérent Tardif
French to English

Producer responsibility organisations
This term refers to a member that joins a producer responsibility organisation at a later stage rather than at the start of the scheme.
I obviously can't put "late member"!
Any suggestions gratefully received

: On reflection, "enter a scheme" can be said and written, and thus "late entrant" works well too.

Comment: "Thanks! There were a lot of very useful suggestions, but "late entrant" seemed the best fit "

subsequent joiners
Used in example for non-original EU members. In workplace you would have "new joiner" so the only reservation I have about this term is that I would wonder "subsequent to what?"

late adopter (of the scheme)
If indeed a scheme, and not a club, for instance.

late subscriber
I think this fits, late adopter sounds right for a behaviour but subscriber for membership.
Example sentence:
BeanCorp was a late subscriber to the World Bean Producer Group.

non-founding member
This may not work because you haven't given the French context, but a founding member is one that's there at the beginning. I agree that you can't use "late".

Note from asker:
An interesting suggestion, especially I was hoping to be able to keep the term "member", but not sure if an "adhérent" (as opposed to an "adhérent tardif") would actually be a founding member, or simply a member that joined at the start of the scheme. As for giving more context, apologies - I thought I had given enough with the info that it referred to the members of a producer responsibility organisation. Duly noted for future questions! |

: I'm afraid "haven't given the French context" is a very valid point. This answer may be a good fit. Remember, better-asked questions = better answers!

Discussion
Late joiners/entrants pay the same membership fee but have to pay a late fee which varies depending on why they were late in joining the scheme
Thanks to all contributions, they were very helpul
