This is in reference to closet/cupboards systems. Each part of the assembled cupboard or locker is described and this is one heading, to do with the internal measurements of the closet. it´s probably "huecos, libres de entrada" - does this mean sections which have no door?

maximum opening of storage space
it is the size of the opening of the inside space...the maximum opening through which you can shove objects into the closet...IMO...it may mean no doors but....

free space/hollow
From the context you show, the source term could have two meanings:
- the one you mean, that is: spaces with no door;
- if we regard the internal measurements of the closet, then the concept would be "available dimensions for bringing things in".
