Hungarian term

a part of sentence

Hungarian to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
a Vevö érvényesíti napi 50 ezrelékes kötbert. What is the meaning? I have met it in a bilingual contract and I must make sure it maches the English version.
Thank you.

the buyer is responsible for/(has to cover) the 50 points daily penalty

Pick whichever of the two versions sounds better to you - they are both equally valid and correct.

neutral Csaba Ban : "50 ezrelék" is exactly "5 százalék", i.e. 5%

disagree Eva Blanar : a penalty is charged by the buyer to the seller (for non-delivery), so to me, this looks like the other way round = the buyer makes use of their right to charge a penalty of 5% per day (cool, by the way) - a buyer is more likely to pay a penalty interest

disagree perke : Éva is right. "Érvényesíti" means, buyer charges a penalty and seller will pay. Answer was selected too quickly.

agree Nora Kis-Pal : Agree with perke - and Eva, of course

ungrading the question

As a moderator, I have the option of "ungrading" the KudoZ question, but I can only do this if *both* the asker and the accepted answerer request me to do so.

In any event, it is a good idea to wait for a few proposed answers and make a decision only later.
