Glossary entry (derived from question below)
French term or phrase:
brosse à rechampir
English translation:
round sash brush
French term
brosse à rechampir
There doesn't seem to be anything corresponding to this brush in English. Does anybody know a name for them in English?
They can be used, among other things, for getting into awkward angles, and for this I'd use a cutting-in brush - but it's not all the same shape.

: I wonder why "sash" is added, when only corners inside of a boat are to be painted with this brush, instead of "pointed", what it specific for this type.

As per my reference, this is just the accepted and widely used name of this type of brush. It is also used for sash windows. "Pointed" is probably not specific enough as this could indicate a very fine brush for artwork.

: don't know why you need to expand on "(round) sash brush" as that's the name for this type of brush whether on a ship or elsewhere

If you read the example sentence, the description of the purpose of these brushes is clearly explained. Yes it could be used in a house or other setting, but the asker's source is marine supplies.

: Overinterpretation. I wonder why "for finishing" is added, instead of the essential "pointed". The purpose is irrelevant.

'rechampir' is indeed the purpose of this type of brush.

Artist's brush shapes
• Round: pointed tip, long closely arranged bristles for detail.
• Flat: for spreading paint quickly and evenly over a surface. They will have longer hairs than their Bright counterpart.
• Bright: shorter than flats. Flat brushes with short stiff bristles, good for driving paint into the weave of a canvas in thinner paint applications, as well as thicker painting styles like impasto work.
• Filbert: flat brushes with domed ends. They allow good coverage and the ability to perform some detail work.
• Fan: for blending broad areas of paint.
• Angle: like the filbert, these are versatile and can be applied in both general painting application as well as some detail work.
