Upon receiving a "Start" signal, the MCS PLC shall initiate and enable motor torque and excitation controls to accelerate the Mill to 10% speed. The Mill must then maintain 10% speed for one revolution, while testing for "frozen charge." If a frozen charge is detected (failure to cascade), the Mill drive is required to abort the start operation, and permit the Mill to roll back and come to rest, and initiate an alarm. The drive design shall provide for reversing power at low speed to the Mill motor to prevent the charge from oscillating, and thus reduce the time of coming to rest.
