Daryo
: what they have in mind is not so much the "transfers" but the travels / journeys passengers get transferred to (or from)

That's what my answer means, i.e. each leg of the journey. (Note that the noun "travel" is uncountable.)

unlinked passengers
See, for example, https://www.bts.gov/archive/publications/transportation_stat...
"non-transfer passengers" is also used, but much less frequently.

: no, that would mean excluding passengers who took another train before of after the journey.

passengers without connections
Hello
We speak of connecting flights. Maybe a bit rarer with trains but I think it okay and is probably understandable in the context.

: This would sound rather risible! We do of course talk about 'connecting trains' — but it is the trains or the journeys that have 'connections', not the poor passengers! "Whose journeys do not involve conections"

okay then "without connecting trains"

Daryo
: you should check what a dictionary of slang has to say about "being connected" - I very much doubt they had THAT kind of "connections" in mind ... // "connecting trains" yes, that could work.

French term (edited):
Distance moyenne parcourue par chaque passager hors correspondance
Average travelled distance per passenger - connected travel excluded
it means that if a passenger takes another train once at destination, that continuation of the journey / connected travel on another train is not counted for the purpose of these statistics. (or if the passenger started the journey after arriving at the departure station by another connected train)
These statistics are only showing the trips on the monitored service - not the trip to get to the departure station, nor the continuations after the arrival station.

here it seems that the statistics are about journeys on high-speed trains, excluding the connected travel after (or before) on "normal" trains.

: "Connected travel" makes no sense to me.

"Connected flight" makes no sense either? People in the airlines should be informed that they are using nonsense language ... // just because the "trade jargon" is unknown to you doesn't make it "nonsense" - it makes perfect sense to those who are "in".
