My research for Vorröntgen für Menschen has given the following results:

Das sogenannte Vorröntgen erfolgt unter Kurznarkose, denn nur eine exakte Lagerung ergibt auswertbare Röntgenbilder. Von besonderer Bedeutung ist beim Vorröntgen eine zweite Stressaufnahme des Hüftgelenkes. Hierbei wirkt eine auswärtszeihende Kraftkomponente auf den Oberschenkelkopf ein. Beim gesunden Hüftgelenk bleibt der Kopf fest in der Pfanne, beim dysplastischen Gelenk tritt der Kopf aus der Pfanne aus. Lockere Hüften sind das Frühstadium einer schweren HD.

So wird in den meisten Verbänden eine Röntgenuntersuchung der Hüfte erst ab 12 empfohlen (einzelne Verbände empfehlen ein Vorröntgen mit 6 Monaten). Auch hier kommen wir nochmal beispielhaft auf den SV zurück. Dort ist zwar das Vorröntgen im Alter unter 12 Monaten nicht verboten, doch „ist das Ergebnis … für den SV … nicht von Interesse“.

For babies 4 months of age or older and children, x-rays are performed when hip dysplasia is suspected. This is necessary to make the diagnosis or to be sure the hip is normal.
During treatment x-rays can reveal the progress of the hip as it improves. Most children do not need surgery, but for those who do, an arthrogram (x-ray dye injected into the hip joint) at the beginning of the surgery can help the surgeon decide exactly what needs to be corrected.

It means a series of x-rays taken for whatever purpose (probaby cursory prior to a CT/MRI/PET).
