Critical Speed
To determine the speed at which a vehicle loses lateral control on a roadway curve, the yaw of a vehicle can be used.
The Critical Speed Calculator uses the Absolute Data Point Calculation (ADPC) Method for analysis.
Calculations are based on the arc values between actual measured points.
These are the points the curve snaps to when drawn.
The actual curve geometry is just used for reference, not for any measurements, hence; Absolute Data Point Calculation.
Starting an arc from the beginning measured point, the next point is skipped, and the point after that becomes the arc end point.
The arc is built through the three points, a middle ordinate is generated and the arc is completed.
