De "split mullion" werd gevonden als "gesplitste tussenstijl" en "expansion joint" als uitzettingsvoeg. Commentaren zijn nog steeds welkom.

What's the problem? Whereas the stick-system mullion is a single, unified member, the unit-system mullion is composed of two adjacent unit frames that interlock to form the vertical member [5.10]. Known as a dynamic (or split) mullion, this two-part extruded-aluminum mullion allows some relative movement between adjacent units (for thermal expansion and contraction) and gives the system greater flexibility in general.
