Italian term

EPI

Italian to English Medical Medical (general) epilepsy treatment
This is from a Pronto Soccorso report on a child admitted for seizures:

"... encefalopatia mitocondriale, portatore di PEG, in terapia con EPI per 3 volte al giorno e Lioresal 3 volte al giorno.

What is EPI here? I can't find this in Acromed ... and I can't even tell if it's English or Italian. (They use 'PEG' earlier in the history, which I think is an English acronym: Percutaneous Enteral Gastrostomy, yes?)

Thanks for your help!

Vincerinone (α-tocotrienol quinone)

Ciao Joseph.

The patient has a rare disease (encefalopatia mitocondriale). EPI could be the acronym for an experimental drug, EPI-743 (you can find many hits about these trials).

However, I would look for other confirmations of this in the patient's medical records.

Ciao Gilberto. Thank you for your answer ... I could not find any confirmation of this elsewhere in the file.
