Model 1 In contrast to the previous models, the inter individual variability for E0 (see
equation 48) was changed from an exponential model (allowing only positive factors) to
an additive model (allowing for positive or negative summands). The model development
according to equation 48 is shown in table 15. Every time when race was introduced as a
covariate the improvement in objective function was less than 3.84. i.e. not significant.
After correcting by fasting plasma glucose levels race is not a significant
covariate in terms of objective function. In addition , when race was used as a
covariate, the fitted values for the parameters are quite similar for Asian and Caucasian.
Fit 993267544 is considered as the best fit. The fit includes inter occasion variability
on E0 and weight as a covariate on E0 (see equation 48). The most effective step
was the introduction of the inter occasion variability IOV. Figures 71 to 75 show the
corresponding diagnostic plots.
