English term

Exitant radiation

English to French Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Thermography
Formula for the radiation properties of a general object. It shows how exitant radiation will be proportionally divided between emission (ε) from the target source, reflection (ρ) from a source on the same side of the target from which it is being viewed, and transmission (τ) from a source on the opposite side of the target from which it is being viewed. It shows that the sum of these capacities or abilities is always one.

Rayonnement diffusé or Rayonnement réfléchi?

Discussion

Jean-Christophe Duc (asker) Aug 4, 2017:
Yes, and the source looks quite knowledgeable, so I'll settle for this. Thanks for your help
Tony M Aug 4, 2017:
@ Asker Ah, now THAT sounds correct! At least it sort of confirms the intention of 'exit' — though I don't think 'rayonnement sortant' would be very helpful here! I think 'résultant' is much more explicit.
Jean-Christophe Duc (asker) Aug 4, 2017:
@Tony, quite right ...but then that is in the source TM, so needs investigating.
Later on I have "...from three different sources.
Wε + Wρ + Wτ = WEXIT = 100%" and found this on http://www.technologuepro.com/Mecanique/Maintenance/Techniqu... "Rayonnement résultant - Wε + Wρ + Wτ = WRESULT = 100%", so I guess this will settle the issue.
Tony M Aug 4, 2017:
@ Asker Certainly not "rayonnement réfléchi" — your text already explains that this is only ONE of the components involved.

Proposed translations

33 mins

rayonnement par excitation

Could it be a typo i.e. it should read excitant instead of exitant?
I couldn't find any definition for exitant in EN...

It was just my 2 cent, I'm not sure about it as I would need to do more research

Au temps pour moi !
Example sentence:

Système de détection (100, 150, 180, 200, 220, 250) conçu pour détecter la luminescence émanant d'au moins un échantillon (108) excité par un rayonnement d'excitation incident.

Note from asker:
Non, c'est bien exitant, par exemple https://reliabilityweb.com/articles/entry/using_ir_for_cbm
