Italian term

accesso SSR - SSR esente

Italian to English Medical Medical: Health Care medical care coverage (?)
This is at the top of a CT-angiogram report, where they give information about the patient:

Data esecuzione: [xxx]
Fascia: *Accesso SSR - SSR Esente*
AngioTC distretto toracico

And then the CT findings ...

I think one has to live in italy to understand this. What is the concept behind "Accesso SSR - SSR Esente" and how should I translate it here? (I do know that SSR = Servizio Sanitario Regionale)

Grazie mille di nuovo.

Sistema Sanitario Regionale

Ciao Joseph.

In Italy we pay the Italian National Health System with our taxes. However, depending on the income, to receive the NHS services one may have to contribute with a small fee (so called "ticket").

Many categories are exonerated from the fee:
* elderly above 65yo with income below 36K €/year (exeption code E01)
* unemployed (code E02)

or maybe patients with some diseases (there is a national list of these diseases).
E.g. a diabetic patient (disease code 013) should not pay a fee to have an EKG

So, the "SSR Esente" means that the patient may have the NHS service without the payment of the fee
