My translation is not an architectural term of art - don't know whether there is any. But it is what the writer is describing.

neutral mrrafe : But the context suggests superficial ornamentation as in photo at https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligne_de_refend, rather than genuine structural elements. Hence I would go with incisions or markings.
